Head of OERP: transformation begins with change of attitudes

At the second meeting of Council for Transformation Measures at Organization for Educational Research and Planning (OERP), Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Hassan Maleki, stressed that transformation begins with the change of attitudes.

According to Public Relations and International Affairs Office at OERP, the meeting chaired by Dr. Maleki, was attended by a group of managers and consultants.

Here, a report on the textbooks encryption (QR code) as well as the curriculum groups measures in compiling curriculum guidelines was presented.

the head of the organization underlined the importance of transformational measures at both textual and supportive levels.

Also, regarding the significance of Strategic Council of Thinkers at OERP, he posed: "This council is composed of 10 young, committed and religious elites who discuss issues such as training, learning packages and standards and discussed issues are submitted to Council for Transformation Measures.”

He maintained that inserting QR code in textbooks, editing these materials and accelerating the setting-up process of the organization's editorial board in cooperation with Academy of Persian Language and Literature, are some short-term measures to be carried out by OERP.

Furthermore, Mohammad Alavi Tabar, Deputy for Resources Development and Support at the organization, presented a report on the number and variety of textbooks and a proper schedule for their printing.

He noted, "Printing unchanged textbooks has priority over those experiencing basic or partial manipulation."

Regarding the supply and production of supplementary content for textbooks, Mohammad Ibrahim Mohammadi, Director General of Bureau of Educational Technology and Publications at OERP, said, "There are many capacities in some institutions and their content productions can be used in compiling textbooks."

He also suggested setting up a committee for content production.

On textbooks’ encryption, Dr. Ali Mohebbi, Deputy for Curriculum Planning and Production of Training and Learning Packages, highlighted, "Needs assessment is the first step in the textbooks encryption process and it must be specified which lessons require supplementary content. Therefore, an appropriate schedule must be prepared.”

Also, issues such as attending human resources in identifying which locations in textbooks should be encrypted, diversifying all types of complementary contents and using dynamic codes that can be connected to the contents in different situations were raised by other members.

Summarizing the first agenda of the meeting, Dr. Maleki said, “It is necessary to prepare a new and creative plan as a technology model in curriculum planning.”

This measure was decided to be pursued by a number of consultants and the result to be presented to the council within the next two months.

Also, identifying textbooks that can be encrypted, specifically in vocational area, was stressed.

Following the meeting, Dr. Ali Mohebbi started the second agenda by presenting a report on the status of curriculum guidelines. In this report, he referred to specialized working groups' and planning councils’ measures and reported their progress based on certain factors including approach, goals, method and evaluation.

Dr. Maleki considered setting standards as a necessity for curriculum planning, adding, “Standards are content’s desired level and they should be properly formulated.”
