Romanian envoy receives honorary membership of Academy of Persian Language

The honorary membership was conferred to the outgoing Romanian Ambassador Christian Teodorescu in a farewell ceremony.

Ambassadors from Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Georgia, Russia and China were present in the ceremony.

Head of the Academy Gholamali Haddad Adel said that the Academy is proud of conferring the honorary membership on Mr. Ambassador Teodorescu.

He said that there is close relationship between language and diplomacy and language is one of the best means for the diplomats and that promoting the language among the nations accounts for diplomatic activities.

Haddad Adel appreciated Mr. Christian Teodorescu sense of friendship to the Persian language, saying that Mr. ambassador set a successful pattern for the Romanian friendship with Iran.

Mr. Christian Teodorescu studied Persian language and literature in Tehran University (1974-1978) and became Romanian ambassador to Tehran.

He stayed in Iran until the end of the Iraqi-imposed war 1980-1988.

Mr. Teodorescu served as Romanian ambassador in Iran for 22 years and learned Persian Language both in university and in the routine communication with Iranians, Haddad Adel said.

Ambassador Christian Teodorescu said that it is a great honor for him that his name has been put in the list of great scholars and characters who served the Persian language and literature.
