Literacy Education Programs for Foreign Nationals

He said in this sense literacy means the ability to read and write Persian texts, to calculate using four basic operations and to read the holy Quran to the extent a third grader can. He added that about 25 thousand foreign nationals (%78 male and %22 female) benefited from literacy programs last year.

He also announced that the cost of literacy programs between 1984 and 2011 is estimated about 1.8 billion dollars, %5 of which has been supplied by international bodies.

He referred to the challenges and difficulties his organization is facing. He listed the obstacles of literacy education for foreign nationals as lack of detailed information about them, insufficient international assistance, current regulations that confines providing services to certain provinces, limitations in producing appropriate content regarding lingual requirements and financial shortages.
