Iranian stars shine at int’l astronomy Olympiad

According to Iran Daily newspaper, Iranian phenoms Arman Vasiqzadeh-Ansari, Fatemeh Zargarbashi and Ali Zare’ grabbed the glittering golds as four silvers went to their teammates, Saeid Hojjati-Nejad, Seyyed Morteza Sadat, Mohammad-Hadi Sotoudeh and Alireza Arjmand, and Ali Chegini, Parsa Norouzi and Ali Hadian Amraei added three bronze medals to the champion team’s asset.
Competing with their rivals from 40 countries, Vasiqzadeh-Ansari, Zargarbashi and Zare’ were also awarded for getting the highest data analysis, creativity and theory scores, respectively.
IOAA is an annual event for highly performed high school students from all around the world in the field of astronomy and astrophysics. Established in Thailand 2006, it was initiated by five countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Iran, China and Poland with the aim to proliferating astronomy among high school students, fostering friendship among young astronomers at international level so as to build cooperation in the field of astronomy in the future among the young scholars.
The countries, which have ever hosted IOAA, are Thailand in 2007, Indonesia in 2008, Iran in 2009, China in 2010, Poland in 2011, Brazil in 2012, Greece in 2013, and Romania in 2014.
