‘Intellectual development of students’ Education’s task

The deputy minister and chairman of the Organization for Research and Educational Planning at the Ministry of Education said: “The task of education is the intellectual development of students; as human beings grow up, the development of their thought and capacity increases. According to the Fundamental Transformation Document, the education system, as a cultural institution, system and nation-building institution, must be able to evolve in accordance with its duties derived from the Iranian and Islamic culture and the needs of the next generation.

The deputy minister of education added that following the revolution, the need for a transformation in education led to the development of a philosophy of education based on Islamic beliefs and Iranian culture based on which a Fundamental Transformation Document was written, where one of the underlying principles of this document is National Curriculum.”

He also emphasized that According to the Document, the ultimate goal in the education system for the students and teachers is to reach a clean life which makes everyone close to Allah; where we are looking for a perfect transcendental life. He said that the path to the national curriculum passes through goodness, beauty, wisdom, philanthropy, and theology. We must teach students the mechanism of thinking in order to be able to develop their personality and knowledge.

He also pointed out that the removal of entrance examinations for particular schools during the initial period was based on the approval of the High Council of Education, considering that these tests usually threaten the educational goals of the students and endangers the mental health of the knowledge of students and their families.
