President considered country’s achievements result of teacher’s efforts and explaining that extending welfare services is possible by increasing country’s income, he insisted: Teachers’ economic difficulties must not be used to collect votes and it is pathetic that some people look at education and teachers as a tool for collecting votes.
According to the public relations of the Ministry of Education, insisting that the gap between people is where enemy penetrates and we all must be proud to be Iranians, Hojjat-ol Islam Dr. Hassan Rohani said: Colors of Islam and Iran must be a flag of serenity for all indigenous groups and religions and it has been a government for all Iranians from beginning and it remains so.
We should achieve technology, knowledge based economy, scientific and productive dignity in the region and the world. It goes without saying that every achievement, proficiency and glory is the result of teachers’ efforts.
The exhibition held on the sideline of this convention is proud and I am pleased to see the variety and quantity of the products of knowledge based companies participating in this exhibition, number of the countries these products are exported to, jobs created by these companies and all in all, what have been done for the future of country, said Dr. Rohani.
In order to develop, we must takeover regional and global markets. Words get us nowhere; there have been many slogans throughout past years, now is the time to act. It is so pathetic that some want to use education and teachers as a tool. Sure, teachers and medical staff and other government servants in Iran have problems, as they do in any other country, the question is why one should take advantage of people’s problems to collect votes, added he.
We cannot expect to solve these problems and complaint about current costs at the same time. The biggest portions of these costs are welfare and pension and the other large costs are those of education and health and treatment. Some say we must reduce these costs and on the other hand, some insist that we must increase budgets of defense and education and these are really some paradoxes.
The only way to increase welfare services is to increase country’s income, Rohani says. Those who promise large sums of money these days, have they ever thought where this money comes from? If they are going to cut it from teachers or nurses paychecks or they want to borrow it from Central Bank?
Borrowing from Central Bank, increases the inflation. Last administration borrowed 450,000,000,000,000 Rials from Central Bank for the project “Maskan Mehr” and the result was a 40% increase of inflation. But we have been steady on financial discipline from the very early days of this administration and did not allow any borrowing from Central Bank and so, we managed to contain inflation and reduce it to a one digit rate.
It is easy to talk, but what really counts is to present detailed plan, specifying incomes and allocating each one for a cost.
Referring to what some say about people’s economic status getting worse under this administration, President explained: We are buying wheat from farmers 13,000 rials/Kg now, which is almost twice the amount they used to pay (7,000 Rials/Kg) at the beginning of 11th government, so our farmers can afford a better life.
The President continued: What does it mean to develop our country, except to be self-sufficient in production of a strategic article like “wheat”, which we have managed to increase its production from 97 million tons per year to 118 million tons per year. Is it dignified to import 6 million tons of wheat each year, or to be able to export 3 million tons per year, as we have succeeded?
We pay our wheat farmers almost twice the price of import wheat; we have paid 150,000,000,000,000 Rials this year to wheat farmers, which is 17 times what was paid to them on 1392 (4 years ago).
We should be even more active in IT and knowledge based industries for they can create jobs. There have been 100,000 jobs created by 3,000 knowledge based companies established in last 3.5 years. We have increased aids to knowledge based companies from 250,000,000,000 Rials to 30,000,000,000,000 Rials since the beginning of 11th government and we should continue this way until we takeover global markets, Dr. Rohani said. He also referred to Peugeot 2008 joint venture project with France and said: We are moving toward penetrating car international markets along with other countries competing in this field.
Claiming that the country is now safer than ever, he continued: our armed forces
are strengthened and our diplomatic relations is expanding, but some of this
safety is because all Iranians are treated alike by the government, regardless of
their origins and religions. Colors of Islam and Islamic Republic should be flags of
serenity for all Iranians. All Iranians have equal civil rights and all of us should be
proud to be Iranians.
Teachers should treat students alike, as prophet of Islam used to treat his deciphers; justice begins by teacher’s look and speaking. Classes must be home of morality and if we learn morality there, then we will not discredit others from tribune or in TV, added the President.
It is president duty to preserve rights of each and every individual; this election is a great day for Iranian nation, like any other referendum. As fate of all human is determined on “Layt-ol Ghadr” (Night of Fate), fate of our country will be set on 29th of Ordibehest (May 19- presidential election day). Sometimes result of an election affect the country not just for four years, but for eighty years; what really matters for us is national dignity, power and prosperity of country. We do not want power to terrorize others, for us, power is a tool for friendship. Of course, we oppose any menace firmly and strongly.
