“The Ministry of Science, Research and Tachnology’s policy is to increase fellowships for PhD students to study abroad and this year the sabbatical for 1200 students has been funded,” said Vahid Ahmadi.
Stating that there are no restrictions on the major of PhD students to go on sabbatical, he asserted that, “if the necessary funds are obtained, the Ministry of Science plans to expand sabbatical opportunities for all PhD students.”
“The goal of the Ministry of Science is to expand 9-month sabbatical for PhD students instead of expanding international scholarships,” underlined research deputy minister.
Ahamdi also stressed that granting sabbatical opportunity to top students requires coordination between Science, Research, and Student Departments of the ministry.
