160,000 books to be presented at TIBF int'l section

Organizer of the event, Hamed Mirza-Babaei said 46 distributors of European languages books will present the works of 5,932 publishers at the fair. Also 84 distributors of Arabic books will display works representing 325 Arab publishers and in total, more than 160,000 book titles will be displayed in the fair's international section, reported IBNA.

He added that 118,036 European languages book titles and 42,420 Arabic ones will be present at the fair, half of which were published in the last three years (2014-2016). Efforts have also been made to display new and updated books in this section, he noted.

On the topics covered by the books, Mirza-Babaei said: "The European-language books deal with humanities, arts, engineering, science, medicine as well as reference books. Arabic books are mostly are on humanities."

He said: "The Qur'an is the most expensive book in this section. In the European language section, the 'Golden Qur'an' is the most expensive book priced at €80,000, while in the Arabic section, the most low-priced work is the Qur'an offered at $1.50."

The 29th Tehran International Book Fair with the slogan: "Tomorrow is too late to read" will be held from May 4 to 14, 2016 in Sun City Exhibition Complex on the Persian Gulf Highway, opposite the shrine of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.
