Times Higher Education (THE) is one the most prestigious ranking systems that evaluates world top universities, Mohammad Javad Dehqani said.
Babol Noshirvani University of Technology, universities of Tabriz, Gilan, Isfahan, Alzahra and Birjand have been listed for the first time as top universities, Dehqani said.
Amir Kabir University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology, Isfahan University of Technology, K. N. Toosi University of Technology, Sharif University of Technology, Tehran and Tabriz universities of medical sciences were also on the top, he added.
Dehqani went on to say that Iran stood in the second place after Turkey in terms of number of top universities.
