According to the Vice President for Scientific and Technological Affairs' Office, the main purpose ebhind the publication of the atlas is to reflect Iran's capabilities in ship building, offering information on technical specifications and standards of Iranian made ships and making interested people familiar with the Iranian ship building industries.
The atlas is also aimed at increasing the strategic decision-making and planning capabilities of the officials concerned and blocking the path for importing those ships than can be built domestically.
There is information on launching new ships, saving sinking ships, main facilities in the shipyards and jetties, parking yards and workshops, the annual manufacturing capacities of the Iranian shipyards, and their maintenance capacities case by case for the interested individuals.
All in all, the atlas provides a solid batch of information on this strategic industry in Iran.
