Marking the holy month of Ramadan, Iranians hold an international exhibition of Quran whose 23rd edition is underway in Tehran.
The world’s biggest Quranic event, the expo has numerous sections each one dedicated to a certain activity related to the Quran.
The international art section of the event is where artists from around the world have showcased valuable artworks inspired by the holy book of Islam.
Showcasing more than one hundred works from professional Iranian contemporary artists, a new gallery dedicated to the works of renowned Iranian artists welcomes visitors in the 23rd international Quran exhibition. The paintings, calligrams, photographs and sculptures on display carry mystical and Quranic messages.
Earlier in the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition Mohammad Hossein Hashemi the Cultural Deputy of ICRO (the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization) called the fair a symbol of Iran’s many contributions to the Islamic world and sais that the Quranic activities were among the leading cultural and international programs of the organization.
Hashemi added that dispatching 40 Iranian Quran reciters (Qari) to other countries is one of those activities. Observing the proper rules of recitation, Qari is a trained Quran reader who combines rhyme with the meaning of the verses in his recitation of the holy text.
Along with Iranian artists and researchers whose Quranic works of art and research are displayed, 17 works of art and research are on the wall in the international section of the exhibition.
The 17 works are the accepted ones out of the 60 works proposed and they are from Indonesia, France, Kuwait, Bosnia, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq and New Zealand.
This year’s event will wrap up on July 14.
