40 Million Copies of the Roshd Magazine each year

Regarding the supervision of the production of educational books for students and teachers, Sayed Mohammad Naseri, director general of the Office of Publications and Educational Technology, said in an interview with the education correspondent of the Fars News Agency, that between 5,000 to 6,000 books a year from publishers reach our office, where almost 50% of the books in our opinion are inappropriate for students.

Concerning the use of guide books by the students, Mr. Nasseri criticized the growing use of guide books by the students, and pointed out: “The amount of the use of guide books is so high that some students do not even have time to read the books they have bought.” Regarding the advertisement of the guide books he added that National TV authorities say that they have a business section that should be active, and advertisers have their permit from the Ministry of Islamic Culture and Guidance to advertise these guide books. So we believe it is a matter of economic issue.

On circulation of the Roshd magazines, he said that the number of magazines is 40 million copies annually, in which 37 million copies are related to the students. He also stated: “The Children’s Roshd Magazine for the kinder garden and the first year primary school is 800,000 copies per issue; for the second and third grades of primary school, one million and 200 thousands; for the fourth, fifth and sixth grades of the primary school is about one million and 600 thousands; for the first, second and third year high school is 500,000 and for the fourth, fifth and sixth year high school is 90,000 copies for each period.”
