74 Countries Participate in Iran’s Biennial Book Cartoon

Secretary of Iran’s 3rd International Biennial Book Cartoon announced the submission of 2,130 works from 74 countries to the secretariat of the biennial.
According to IBNA correspondent, quoting the public relations office of Iran’s Foundation of Public Libraries, by the end of the deadline  set for participation in the 3rd International Biennial Book Cartoon, Secretary of this event Seyyed Massoud Shojaei Tabataba’i presented the latest figures and information about the works received by the secretariat of the festival.
He said: "Deadline for submitting works to the biennial which were sent from 74 countries ended in January this year as 2,130 works from 768 artists in the world were received. Most of the works belong to Iranian artists followed by participants from Turkey, Indonesia and China.”
Secretary of the Biennial Book Cartoon said that there is not much difference between countries in terms of reputation in the field of cartoon and stressed: "There are outstanding artists worldwide, but Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia and Ukraine have shown a higher quality level due to their numerous competition in the field.
"Figures also prove that 61 artists from Turkey, 33 from Brazil, 48 from Indonesia and 22 from Ukraine have submitted their works to the secretariat of Iran’s 3rd Biennial Book Cartoon.”
It is worth mentioning that the International Biennial Book Cartoon was founded by the Public Libraries Foundation to promote the culture of reading by using the capability of cartoons.
The first edition of this Biennial was held in 2010 and was attended by cartoonists from 53 countries. The second edition took place in 2014 with the participation of artists from 64 countries. The closing ceremony of this event will be held in March this year and the winners will be named.
