Speaking at a gathering themed ‘Educating a Child, a Way Toward Peace’, Deputy Secretary of Convention on the Rights of the Child Majid Esmaeili said if a child is raised with violence concepts, he/she cannot be bound to peace, wrote IRNA.

Street kids and labor children become familiar with social injustice from childhood, he said.

“These children are deprived of education. Therefore, educating them can stem violent behaviors.”

He continued that the Education Ministry has added courses on peace and environment to the curriculum.

Also, Zahra Ja'fari, a senior expert of the Presidential Office's Center for Women and Family Affairs, said peace is considered a right for every child.

Reyhaneh Ja'fari, a substitute member of the Association of Writers for Children and Youth,  said concepts such as love, friendship and kindness could be taught to children. These are effective in promoting the culture of peace in children, she added.

She said the media and writers can convey message of peace to children via books and stories.

Ja'fari continued that Iranian society includes an assortment of clans. Writers should moderate the society by writing stories which are in line with friendship among various clans, she said.

Also, Nader Mousave, a principal of an Afghan children school said, “We should raise children in a way that they can have peaceful coexistence with believers of other religions and clans.”

He believed that peace could materialize through trainings offered by family to the child as well as academic training.
