Academic underlines promotion of Persian language in subcontinent

Darai made the remark after visiting the Iran Studies Department and Persian language classes of National University of Modern Languages (NIML)at the invitation of Nur Mohammad Mehr.

Head of the Persian Department of the Persian Language Department Issa Karimi, Director of Iran-Pakistan Persian Research Center, Ghassem Moradi, Deputy Cultural attache of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rahman Zad accompanied the Iranian cultural attache in the visit.
Head of the Persian Language Department in NIML University said Persian language was lauched in 1970 concurrent with establishment of the national institute of modern languages.
Nur Mohammad Mehr said Persian Department has been playing a grave role in uplifting the status of NIML and said Iran Chamber in the university is a good symbol for introducing the country to the extent that certain countries like Germany call for using the chamber to hold their session.
He said Urdu course was established in Tehran University in 1956 and since 1988 the section has become more active and within one year, Urdu has become active in the university.
He hoped that positive steps will be taken to upgrade Persian language.
