Congratulating the 36th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and the period of ten days of Fajr, he mentioned that whatever we possess, belongs to the blessings of the Martyrs' blood.
In another part of his address he said, "before the Islamic Revolution we couldn't independently make decisions even in the areas such as industry of constructing facilities, ports, breakwaters, housing for the staff, etc. I mean we used to follow the western countries because NATO decided for us what to do in all areas before the revolution. But nowadays, we are not only defending our waters but we can exhibit our presence in the international waters up to the 10th parallel and display the capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanks to the Islamic Revolution.
On the security of the Strait of Hormuz, Admiral Sayyari said, "we have repeatedly declared that the Navy of the I.R. of Iran is not only capable of controlling the strait and affording security of the strait, the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, but the Navy can combat terrorism and guarantee secure international trade by escorting commercial ships in the north of the Indian Ocean up to the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandab."
The Navy Commander noted, "our personnel are trained to the highest levels according to the international standards at home. Our presence in different international waters best indicates the quality of our training."
He specified, "we can now manufacture, maintain and repair our needed arms and equipment without any assistance required from abroad. We are even self-sufficient in making, overhauling and restoring destroyers and rocket warships, creating intelligent equipment, producing necessary ammunition, using modern tactics, planning our maneuvers as well as constructing ports and facilities.
Pointing out minor countries in the region that gain great profit through goods transit he added, "paying attention to the development of ports in Makran Coast including Jask, Chabahar, etc. can provide us with improvement in international trade, more employment and more income for the country. To quote the supreme leader, this coast is in fact a treasure and we ought to admit that we had neglected this fact before.
It should be noted that before Admiral Sayyari's speech, Deputy Minister and the Head of the OERP, Dr Mohammadian delivered a welcome address expressing his gratitude to Admiral Sayyari and his delegation for their presence at the OERP.
