In 2015, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei ordered schools to take in all Afghan children.
According to the United Nations refugee agency UNHCR announcement in March, more than 350,000 Afghan children have benefited, including 48,000 young "undocumented" residents who enrolled at school for the first time.
An official from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations, has hailed Iran for giving education to Afghan refugee children.
NRC's Secretary Jan Egeland said in his tweet account in September, “Often deported from Northern countries, but in Iran undocumented Afghan refugee children enjoy first day in School!”
The Northern Countries in the World Economy are Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
One million Afghans are living in Iran.
And that's just registered refugees - it's widely believed there could be another two million "undocumented' Afghans living in Iran.
That, of course, means there are a large number of Afghan children in Iran.
Also in January, an Iranian government official said 60% of refugees had received an education - 48.5% of them female.
