Bishapur Historical Site Reopens

Bishapur site is one of the most important historical sites in Iran, Mosayyeb Amiri the General Manager of the provincial office of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) in Fars Province of Iran told the reporters, on the sidelines of reopening ceremony of the site to public visitors and tourists.

Amiri added that the new installations in the complex provide a full account of Climatological and anthropological information of the place.

With a total of 30,000 historical elements registered in the National List of Heritage, Bishapur is the 24th important historical location in the whole country, said the official.

In addition to facilities provided in the current phase of the project, a resting reservoir is planned to be built near the site, according to Amiri.

He also recounted that a sum of around $143,000 was spent in the current phase of the project in the last Iranian year.

An ancient city in Iran, Bishapur was originally erected by Shapur I (241-272) in 266 AD in south of current Faliyan in the Kazerun County of Fars Province of Iran.
