Bologna Children’s Book Fair manager meets Iranian writers at TIBF

Writers Fereidun Amuzadeh-Khalili and Mahmud Barabadi, two members of the managing board of the association, and writer Hadis Lazar-Gholami held talks on the association’s activities.

“Writers for children and youth try to promote literature for children,” Amuzadeh-Khalili said.

He proposed that the organizers of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair should create an opportunity for world associations of children’s writers to meet and hold talks.

Roberta Chinni called the Iranian association a venue where writers and translators of children books can meet.

She called relations the key to develop children’s literature, saying that the role of writers is gradually fading and the names of the translators are being replaced.

However, she said that a section has been dedicated to the translators at Bologna, since they have the responsibility of transferring the entire story to other languages.

She also announced that the organizers of Bologna have made a new decision to establish a writers’ café where authors can meet and exchange views.

She also proposed launching a panel for Iranian writers and translators to make the world more familiarized with Iranian writers, translators and illustrators, Tehran Times reported.

She added that children’s laureates from around the world met and shared ideas and discussed their priorities at the recent Bologna fair, helping to encourage children to read books.

Chinni also welcomed the idea of Amuzadeh-Khalili for providing an opportunity for world associations of children’s writers to meet at Bologna.

She also said that authors usually write in the language of wealthy people in the world, and usually the languages of less affluent nations are ignored.

But the Bologna Fair tries to support translators who concentrate on translation of books of different nations with various dialects, she added.

She also gave her opinion on electronic books and said that she believes producing electronic books for children is illogical and unnecessary.
