Bureau of Consular Affairs opens at Tehran Uni. of Med. Sciences

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of officials from the International Department of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Samad Haj Jabbari, Director General for non-Iranian university students at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

Haj Jabbari stressed the need for the Bureau, saying “all affairs of non-Iranian students studying at any levels, including request for studying in Iran through scholarship or otherwise, cultural issues, accommodation in dormitories as well as camps tours, will run through the Bureau of Consular Affairs.”

He went on to add, “non-Iranian students who needed student visas but it was not possible to accommodate them with various visas had to go to a police station to sort it out, but the Bureau from now on will be in charge of handling students’ permits for entry, re-entry and definitive withdrawal from the education program.”

He further explained, “for example, if a non-Iranian student has finished his/her undergraduate degree in Iran and wishes to choose Tehran University of Medical Sciences for higher levels, or if he/she has studied in Tehran and wishes to be transferred to a university in another city, the Bureau of Consular Affairs will take care of that.”
