Chicago university sends back Iranian ancient tablets

Since there is no direct flight between Iran and US, the Iranian inscriptions were transferred to Germany in their way to Iran.

The inscriptions arrived in Tehran early Wednesday and will be kept in Iran's National Museum.

Chicago university researchers transferred some of the inscriptions to the US for further studies at the time of discovery, but they did not return them after completion of their studies.

Iran referred the case to the Hague International Court of Justice and the court had finally voted in favor of Tehran.

Excavations at Chogha Mish were conducted under the direction of the late Pierre Delougaz and the late Helene Kantor between 1961 and 1978. The excavations covered the complete chronological span from the Neolithic up to the Proto-Literate period and provided vital new information on cultural developments in Khuzistan Province, Iran.
