China to help Iran complete National Internet

Vaezi who is currently in China at the head of a high-ranking delegation, attended a meeting on Friday with his Chinese counterpart Miao Wei, calling for extensive cooperation between the two ministries in areas of education, research, development and joint investments.

Pointing to the threats posed by the influence of some countries in cyberspace and the role granted to a special country to govern and set the rules in the field, the two sides stressed cooperation and coordination in the area to curtail the influence and to increase the presence of other countries in the process of decision-making.

The two sides also highlighted the cooperation to develop and complete Iran’s National Information Network (National Internet) which is considered as a necessity in both countries, and to facilitate and expedite access of citizens to a safe and reliable network.

Accordingly, both countries decided to form a specialized working group to operationalize and implement the agreements at the earliest possible time.

During the meeting, Vaezi invited the head of China’s cyberspace to travel to Tehran in the near future to monitor the recent agreements and provide grounds for their implementation.
