Culture minister meets German ambassador

'The existence of generations of Iranians in Germany is proof for existence of oldest industrial and economic bilateral relations and the two nations' interest in maintaining good bilateral ties,' said Minister Ali Jannati in his Tuesday evening meeting with Ambassador Michael Baron Von Ungern Sternberg.
He said that Iran-Germany cultural relations, too, are very old, and have continued partly intact, as Iran participates in Frankfurt Book Fair every year and the head of that reputable German fair is invited to participate in the opening ceremony of the Tehran Book Fair this year.
Jannati also referred to holding Iran Culture Weeks in Germany in previous years reiterating that in the past in those weeks exchange of films, musical troupes, etc. took place, but in recent years such exchanges have decreased which need to be restarted at broad-scale level.
The German ambassador, too, said in the meeting that establishment of cultural relations lead to decreasing tensions and facilitate passage through various crises.
'The economic and political relations cannot sustain successfully in lack of cultural relations and therefore, our efforts should be focused on expansion of such relations,' said Von Ungern Sternberg.
On Tehran International Book Fair, too, the German envoy expressed delight that Germany has always maintained its strong presence in it, expressing certainty that it will always do so in the future, as well.
