D8 Int’l University planning to admit PhD students

D8 International University was founded within Avicenna University in Hamedan with an aim of promoting academic exchanges among member states of D8 which comprises Indonesia, Iran, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Nigeria, Malaysia and Egypt as well as other countries across the world.

Taking to reporters at the Avicenna University on Saturday, Gholami said that currently the D8 University is admitting students from foreign countries.

D8 University will make use of instructors and scientific facilities of Avicenna University until it becomes independent gradually, he said.

The minister further pointed out that his ministry seeks to attract students from foreign countries and D8 University can pave the way for the fulfillment of the goal.

D8 International University was set up based on an international agreement reached among the eight developing Islamic countries and Iran declared readiness for hosting it, Gholami said.

During a D8 Summit in Turkey in December, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced readiness for founding the university, which was welcomed by the member states of the group, Gholami said.
