Deputy Health Minister: Iran 1st in Mideast in science production

'Now we can say that we have the highest volume of science production in the Middle East, Africa and Muslim countries,' Malekzadeh said, addressing the inaugural ceremony of clean room of Shiraz Medical Sciences University.

He called for creation of infrastructures to produce more scientific articles.

In relevant remarks in February 2015, a senior official at the Iranian science ministry said unsparing efforts of the country's universities and academic centers has turned the country into the most important source of science.

Speaking at a conference on the 'Role of Knowledge-Based Companies in the Resistance Economy’ held in Fars Science and Technology Park, Abdul Hussein Fereidoun pointed to the presence of 4 million and 70 thousand students and faculty members at Iran’s universities and said, the country has taken effective steps in both quantitative and qualitative developments of the universities.

He further called on the Iranian universities to change their policies towards training students capable of generating new ideas for entrepreneurship.

Iran has taken wide strides in science and technology, particularly in medical and medicinal fields, in recent years.
