Design and Validation of an Educational Multimedia Model for Students with Intellectual Disabilities

Students with Intellectual Disabilities

This study aimed to design and validate an educational multimedia model for students with intellectual disabilities. For qualitative content analysis, research questions were previously determined. Method: To design the multimedia model, a descriptive-analytic methodology was recruited through a systematic literature review approach and to validate the model, a descriptive survey method was applied. The statistical population of this research in order to design an educational model comprised all books, research papers, review articles, dissertations and any related online information resources regarding the design of  this multimedia model. Sixteen people were selected as a sample from a population of educational technology specialists and special education professionals to validate the model. Data were collected by note-taking and a seven-item self-designed questionnaire on a Likert scale. Results: The results of this study led to the development of a model called “ADPIE” which went through the five stages of “Analysis”, “Design”, “Production”, “Implementation” and “Evaluation”. The results of the validation indicated that the features of the designed elements of the multimedia model were highly desirable. Conclusion: This model can help instructional designers, and special education teachers to design and produce educational multimedia for students with intellectual disabilities.
