Educating a generation with a national identity, persistent and aware for the realization of a flourishing Islamic civilization

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution this morning (Wednesday) in a meeting with hundreds of teachers and educators, praised the efforts of teachers, especially during the Corona period and as he stressed on the need to improve their livelihoods, said that Iranian youth should be brought up with Islamic-Iranian identity, self-confident, persistent, aware of the Imam's thoughts and ideals, and as scientist and efficient.

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution thanked the good points of the words of the Minister of Education and added: "The country is not lacking in terms of good laws, document and good decisions. It is important that these decisions and laws are pursued and implemented with serious and diligent work."

Explaining the two uses of the concept of teacher, he said: "Teacher in the sense of teaching is a great value, because God is a teacher according to the verses of the holy Qur'an and the Prophet and all scholars, scientists and prominent personalities such as Master Shahid Motahari. Teachers should be proud, since they teach and lead future generations."

Referring to the long-term goal of creating a new and flourishing Islamic civilization, he said: "Human resources are the infrastructure of any civilization and the founders of the new Islamic civilization are the generation that are now to be brought up by teachers, so the importance and value of a teacher should be understood from this perspective."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "This generation with this great goal must have an Iranian-Islamic identity, strong and deep beliefs, be confident, aware of the obsolete civilizations of the East and the West, be a scientist and efficient in order to create the great civilization."

Referring to the training of prominent elements in post-revolutionary education, Ayatollah Khamenei added: "Thanks to the efforts of teachers in the last four decades, effective elements have grown in various fields, but it is not enough, and for that flourishing civilization, such efforts must be widespread."

He described the twelve-year education opportunity for educating such a generation as unique and said: "The extensive education organization in all cities and villages has a good ground to properly transfer the values and ideals of the revolution to the hearts and ears of the children of the nation in the light of teachers' efforts, and to institutionalize the Islamic-Iranian identity in them."

He added: "Of course, in order to achieve the desired goals, the existing problems must be solved with tact, knowledge, effort, struggle and patience."

Ayatollah Khamenei added: "The quality of the teacher and his religion, ethics and skills are very important, and students should have a national identity, in addition to holding high the flag of science, confidently as national and proud Islamic identity."

He added: "In a world where everyone, whether East or West, is pushing and bullying, the next generation must learn the value and importance of persistence from now on in order to be civilized in the light of good teachings to make the country honorable."

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution recommended the Ministry of Education to separate "beneficial science" from "non-beneficial science" in the students' curriculum and said: "Beneficial science is a science that nurtures the talents of adolescents and young people and by investing in their future, they promote the country. Some of the contents of the current curriculum are just archives that flow into the minds of students without any benefit for the present or future, which should be identified and removed from education."

Ayatollah Khamenei, said: Issues such as Islamic lifestyle, cooperation and social cooperation, study and research, jihadist activities, combating social ills, and law and order are among the skills that should be taught in school and be institutionalized in individuals from childhood and adolescence.

He also said: "After more than 10 years of preparing the Transformation Document which is not yet implemented and has not come to realization is certainly a kind of damage to the country. If the Document needs to be amended and completed, the officials should do so, while quantitative indicators should be determined to measure the progress of the Document.

Ayatollah Khamenei expressed that the youth are precious trusts of the country, so they must be transformed into people of higher scientific, moral and behavioral value as a result of the training of religious teachers.

The Supreme Leader of the Revolution considered Farhangian University and all teacher training centers as having great tasks and the need to have comprehensive support to be strengthened and said: these centers should be strengthened in terms of hardware facilities, management, professors, educational texts and educational activities so that they can train desirable teachers.

Ayatollah Khamenei, emphasizing his constant order to improve teachers' livelihoods, and added: "Despite the problems of government facilities, special attention should be paid to the issues of livelihood, insurance, retirement and treatment of teachers."

At the end of his speech, he advised teachers, despite their high expectations from the Ministry of Education to fulfill its duties, not to wait for those expectations to be met, but to carry out student education programs with their personal initiatives and benevolent and compassionate spirit.
