Hojjatoleslam Dr Hamid Parsania, member of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution attended the fifth session of reflection symposia with the theme of "scientific language and public culture: the relation of man and the world from Sadr Al-Mote'allehin's point of view", the OERP Public and International Relations reported . A number of textbook compilers and experts participated in the symposium. The symposium was held at the OERP conference hall on March the 3rd. Pointing out the necessity for addressing the topic he added that the activities of human communities are directly affected by their attitudes towards the universe. There are a number of views in this respect. On the one hand it is believed that the materialistic world does not have life, love and motion, but on the other hand, others, inspired by the verses of the holy Quran, believe that every particle in the world has life, activity and prayer.
He added that there are verses that emphasize on this fact; however, we fail to fully understand it. For example, one verse reads " and whoever is in the heavens and the earth makes obeisance to Allah only, willingly and unwillingly, and their shadows too at morn and eve" and another verse reads "… and there is not a single thing but glorifies Him with His praise, but you do not understand their glorification…"
By classifying such verses into five categories, Dr Parsania added that one group of verses denote glorification of each and every element in the world, the next denote prostration, and the others denote testifying and bearing witness, submission (to Allah's orders), and obedience.
He continued that this point has been neglected in the imported scientific knowledge either deliberately or carelessly, however our view of the world is influenced by Islam and this type of view should be noticed in education and in selecting textbooks content. Education plays an important role in development of scientific terminology.
Dr Parsania mentioned his participation in the international conference of "Multiversity" versus " university" that was held in a university in Malaysia. He added that such international gatherings could pave the way for experts' interaction and exchange of knowledge, advancement of rationality and promotion of sciences. He thanked the organizers of "reflection symposium" and recommended them to hold the symposia internationally regarding the enormous capacities in other countries.
After his speech the participants raised questions and suggestions
