Educational Films Can Strengthen Film Industry

In his opening address at the 45th Roshd Int'l Film Festival, Head of OERP, Dr. Mohammadian admired Mirza Taghikhan Amircabir, a prime minister of Ghajar era and the founder of Darolfonoon that is considered the first modern university in Iran. He said, "I find Amirkabir a foresighted man aware of the forward situation and requirements of the country who believed that development of the country depended on the cultural development and that all problems and difficulties stemmed from ignorance. Meanwhile, he believed that rulers were responsible for ignorance of people" He claimed that Amirkabir could be also known as the founder of resistive economy.

He pointed to some difficulties of holding the festival for over half a century. He said that cinema films are backed by the counter but investing for educational film is not customary. He added that this enterprise usually lies on the shoulders of the educational system.
