Educational Programs for Afghan Refugees

Ali Bagherzdeh, head of Literacy Movement Organization had a meeting with Mohammad Rahimi, Afghan deputy minister of education for literacy affairs in Tehran, reported by Mehr News.

In his meeting, Bagherzadeh pointed to the foundation of LMO under instruction of the late Imam Khomeini and added that about 700 thousand Afghan refugees have benefitted from literacy programs during the past 30 years so that their literacy rate increased from 6 to %62.

He also said that educational services to Afghans are not confined to literacy programs but in recent years about 300 thousand Afghan school children have been registered in schools across the country and 430 thousand more are currently studying in Iranian schools - thanks to the recent instruction of the supreme leader on registering Afghan refugee children at Iranian schools.
