Educational spaces should be designed according to “educational purposes

According to the Public Relations of Ministry of Education, Fakhreddin Danesh Ashtiani said in 7th “Iranian School-Iranian Architecture” national convention which was held at Alameh Amini hall of Tehran University: Ministry of Education’s directors should pay attention to “quality improvement” when executing the contents of “Reform Statement”.

There are 6 sub-systems in Reform statement and “Educational Spaces’ Policies” is one of them and there are some principals in this policy making, of which, Iranian School-Iranian Architecture is one.

He referred to safety and efficient use of space, corresponding to relevant educational programs as two important issues and said: Changing educational spaces from traditional to modern is inevitable due to the changes occurred in educational systems.

Mentioning that one of the main subjects discussed in “Reform statement” is concentrating on pedagogical training, Danesh Ashtiani added: we should have a pedagogical view on construction of educational spaces and prepare a background to make schools a living place for students. If we want teachers and students live together in the same space, so this place should be appropriate and pleasant, so students could actually like it.

Educational spaces should be designed in accordance to educational goals, for even the dimensions of classes are important in learning, continued member of “Hope and Planning” cabinet. We should increase school’s inner appeals for students and design the spaces, so active learning methods could be executed in them.

He named financial limits and lengthy process of construction two major issues in constructive plans and said: We need contribution of all people for renovation and equipping schools, so if one cannot build the whole school, one may contribute as much as he can, for we still lack proper educational spaces in some deprived areas.

The process of construction is a lengthy one, but it can be reduced by using new technologies.

Minister of Education considered sustainable development and environment two bases of schools’ construction and added: we should move toward building “green” schools and bring subjects like pollution, ecology and energy efficiency into account, even though it may increase the costs.

Referring to his visit of exhibition of Iranian school-Iranian Architecture, he said: Taking advantage of new equipment and new educational system, I hope we can have a better future in educational system.
