Educational Textbooks must contain life skills

Fakhreddin Danesh Ashtiani continued: The main goal is not JUST education, but it's training and unfortunately this point is not established on our society and that's why most of parents are only concerned about education and education alone, when calling on schools.

In many countries teaching things like mathematics, physics, chemistry and ... is just a tool to achieve pedagogical purposes and I hope that we would have this method in our country, too, minister of education added.

He continued: When we talk about teaching life skills, some may think that we are talking about an independent textbook, but  this is wrong and life skills must exist in all textbooks.

Dr. Ashtiani said: Dividing educational system into education, research and pedagogy is is not right, education should be done through research and for pedagogical purposes.

Minister of education stated that education is a national issue and one the most important one at that and it's not a burden only for Ministry of Education, but all foundations and organizations in society are involved in this delicate matter. Ministry of Education has just policy making role in this process.

He went on: There is a general agreement today, that official education plays a small role in training and so traditional education is turning toward "unofficial" education and this requires management.

Indicating the necessity of strengthening the connection between scientific associations, specially Association of Educational Philosophy and Ministry of Education, Dr. Danesh Ashtiani insisted: Masters and experts keep collaborating with Farhangian university and other training centers of Ministry of Education and replace theoretical discussions with practical solutions.

Minister of Education added: We will provide a structure for interaction between Philosophy of Education's Association and Ministry of Education in all levels and establishing true place of education in community, through a national movement.

Members of this Association of Educational Philosophy, which are university teachers and professors, came up with some suggestions in this meeting, such as:

- Establishment of educational philosophy council in Ministry of Education.

- Improving educational system and therefore improving the country.

- Society support of the Minister's two propositions; aiding deprived regions and improving pre-elementary and elementary education.

- Necessity of glorifying educational contents.

- Attending to teachers as the most important bases of education.

- Necessity of reform in contents of teacher's training courses in order to change teachers point of views.

- Contribution of Association of Educational Philosophy in three aspects; providing professional and research assistance, scientific upgrade of teachers, principals and other staff, collaboration in making and organising plans.

- Evaluating the plans which are to be executed like " National Statement of Education" and "National Statement of Educational Planning".

- An advisor for the Minister, familiar with philosophy of education.

- A council consisting of scientific associations in the Ministry of Education.

- Establishing website of Association of Educational Philosophy.
