Envoy praises Russian Iranologist for spreading Persian language

He made the remarks in a ceremony held in the Russian Republic of Dagestan capital, Makhachkala to honor the efforts of Osmanov.

During his lecture in the ceremony, the envoy thanked Osmanov for translating Koran and great Iranian poetry including Ferdowsi and Khayyam poems into the Russian language.

Sanaei also thanked Osmanov for spread of Persian language learning in Russia.

Mohammad Nouri Osmanovic Osmanov was born on 6 February 1924 in Makhachkala, capital city of Dagestan. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1950. He received his PhD degree in literature in 1954 and is now professor of Iranian studies there.
