What is your definition of hijab and chastity?
DM: Hijab and chastity are one of the moral barriers to protect the values of the Islamic Ummah, whose reflection in the political and social arena is the symbol of integrity, adherence to religious beliefs and national traditions.
Of course, chastity is a concept of inner moral sense and refers to a particular behavior in speaking, in social relationships, in donning clothes and in personal dignity that goes along with the keyword "modesty". The hijab is rather evident in the expression of the type of clothing, and it is necessary to know that hijab and chastity do not belong exclusively to women and girls, contrary to popular beliefs, it also applies in the circle of men and boys. Of course, the legal criteria and type of coverage in both sexes are different for men and women, but the essence in both cases is the protection of the virtue of men and women and the protection of human and family values.
Do you think that the hijab and chastity have a role to play in the solidification of the family?
The role of the hijab in strengthening the foundations of the family is undeniable. As I have already mentioned, the hijab is a guardian of belief, the need to protect the soul from moral pollution, emotional desire and illusion and ignorance, and instead of natural fulfillment, nourish its instincts, which degrade the human order to the animal order.
From the point of view of Islam and Iranian culture, women have inherent dignity and are different from what can be bought and sold. Their dignity is the promotion of the family, self-perfection and human promotion in the community. Islam does not look at their power of seduction in society, but looks at their wisdom and policy in protecting good human life. In this regard, men follow women in order to regulate their homes and regulate their social affairs. Of course, if this meaning is not well understood, the woman's personality is disrupted and her human dignity becomes the status of an instinctive promotional product and it can lead the society onto the deviated way. At the same time the responsibility to combat decadence is not taken from the hands of men, but when woman becomes a commodity this degrades and deceives human dignity and leaves erotic and instinctive effects on men and diminishes moral and spiritual values and even harms the social glory of a nation. One of the most remarkable means of preventing this harm is promoting the spirit of chastity and the appropriate hijab of men and women in the Muslim world.
Do you think education a role in the development of the culture of hijab and chastity?
As you know, morality has an important place in the context of training, and repetition, practice and appropriate preparation for the appearance of this behavior, like any other type of habit, requires exercise and instruction. In the document on the development of education, the promotion and deepening of the culture of wisdom, chastity and hijab is expected to reflect the capacities of the education system. For the realization of this important work, education must be reviewed in the first place, and also the programs of the production of teaching materials and the relevant means to deepen and develop a culture of hijab, modesty and chastity. Secondly, in promoting this culture, the role of teachers, which are a role model, should not be neglected, and teachers themselves should know in this respect and, by aligning the educational objectives of home and school, family support is accompanied by the efforts of the school.
