Foreigners' literacy grows up to 60% in 1395 SH (2016-17)

Head of Literacy Movement informs of the growth of the rate of literacy among foreign citizens and said: Rate of literacy among foreign citizens had grown from 6% at the beginning of Islamic Revolution to 60% in 1395 SH (2016-17).

According to the Public Relations of Ministry of Education, stating that literacy activities cover people of 10 to 49 years old, Ali Bagherzadeh said: 23,800 persons in the past year and 19,700 during the current year have gone under literacy education.

Claiming that 700,000 foreign citizens have been educated, he added that 18,600 foreign citizens have signed up for literacy this year.

Announcing that literacy services are completely free for foreigners, he told that 80% of expenses is covered by Islamic Republic of Iran, 18% by UNHCR and 2% by Norway.

Head of Literacy Movement the said: The illiterates who manage to graduate 3rd grade will receive a 10,000,000 Rials coupon as a bonus.
