Speaking at Semnan Municipality, he said the city of Semnan is among the cities which are nominees for hosting a gathering of mayors of the Silk Road in 2019.
Media persons and the press can play a very effective role in introducing the tourist attractions in the city to the world public opinion, he added.
In another development, German Iranologist, who visited Torbat-e Heidarieh in Khorasan Razavi Province on Nov. 1, said, "Since I have become interested in Iranian culture and customs, I do my best to introduce Iran to Germans and other Europeans."
Hartmut Niemann further said, "I have written a travel guide to Iran in German language — a portion of which introduces the culture and attractions of Khorasan Razavi Province, chiefly Torbat-e Heidarieh.
"I traveled to Iran, particularly the provinces of Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan, during autumn to visit saffron farms."
Niemann, who has traveled to Khorasan region together with seven German tourists, said "We have traveled to Mashhad and Torbat-e Heidarieh. We intend to visit Ferdows, Qaen and Birjand in South Khorasan Province."
A large number of domestic and foreign tourists visit Torbat-e Heidarieh and Zaveh during saffron harvest season each year.
