Guests From 45 Countries to Attend Imam Khomeini’s Demise Anniversary

"This year, nearly 1,000 people from 45 countries, have begun to arrive to the country and will participate in the ceremony to commemorate the 26th demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA),” Seyed Kamal Mousavizadeh, the head of a committee responsible for foreign guests, said on Monday.
He said the foreign guests range from political and social figures to military officials from countries like Germany, Russia, the US, the Netherlands, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Special ceremonies are underway at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini to mark the event.
Pilgrims from across the country, as well as high-ranking Iranian officials along with groups of foreign guests and ambassadors will attend the ceremony.
Also, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei plans to address the huge gathering.
Every year, large crowds of Iranians from across the country travel to Tehran to attend a commemoration ceremony at Imam Khomeini’s shrine to pay tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic.
Ayatollah Rouhollah Moussavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, spearheaded Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, which led to the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran.
Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989 at the age of 87.
