Handwritten Qurans by Imam Hussain and Imam Sajjad on Display at Astan Quds Museum

Director of Qur’an and Exquisites Treasury of Astan Quds Razavi’s Museum said, "Among the displayed holy Qur’ans at the Qur’an and Exquisites Treasury of Astan Quds Razavi’s Museums, five ones which are attributed to Imam Ali (A.S.), Imam Hasan (A.S.), Imam Hussein (A.S.), Imam Sajjad (A.S.), and Imam Reza (A.S.) enjoy high value. These Qur’ans have all been written with Kufic handwriting and on buckskin. These holy books are considered as some of the Islamic masterpieces.”
At the beginning, Mohammad Reza Saqi referred to the Qur’an attributed to Imam Hussein (A.S.) and said, "This holy book which has been written on 83 buckskins and with Kufic handwriting includes al-Kahf Surah up to the end of Taha Surah. Each page of this Qura’n has got seven lines and the color of which is light yellow”.
"The size of this precious work is 10.8 × 16.5 cm and two sides of this book’s cover have been made up of leather. The outer side of the cover is in black shagreen and its inner side is in purple. On the last page a sign saying "Written by Hussein Ibn Ali” can be seen with gilding”, he added.
Director of Qur’an and Exquisites Treasury of Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Center of Astan Quds Razavi referred to the Qur’an attributed to Imam Sajjad (A.S.) and stressed, "This holy book includes Baqarah Surah up to Na’as Surah and it has been written on 361 pieces of buckskins. Each page of this book which has sixteen lines is 32 × 20 cm, its color is yellow, and the holy verses have been with Kufic style.”
Saqi continued, "The cover page of this book is in black shagreen and Na’as Surah has appeared in three lines on its last page. Also, a piece of writing saying "Written by Ali Ibn al-Hussein Ibn Ali Ibn Abitaleb” can be seen at the end of this holy book.”
