Husseini (AS) Infants Gathering Planned in Pakistan’s Quetta Tuesday

According to IQNA’s South Asia branch, the event is a congregation of mothers and their babies to remember the 6-month-old infant son of Imam Hussein (AS), Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), who was mercilessly killed in the battle of Karbala in the year 680 AD.

The13th edition of Husseini (AS) infants gatherings have been held in 3000 places world over this year.

In Iran, different cities across the country hosted the event on Friday.

Shia Muslims, and others in different parts of the world, started holding ceremonies from Thursday, to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the month of Muharram.

Imam Hussein (AS) and a small group of his followers and family members, including Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), were martyred by the tyrant of his time - Yazid Bin Moaweya.

They were martyred in the battle of Karbala on Ashura- the tenth day of Muharram which is the first month on the lunar calendar.

Imam Hussein and his 72 companions stood in the face of Yazid's large army, and were killed for refusing to pledge allegiance to him.

Muharram mourning ceremonies reach their climax at noon on Ashura.
