Indian Ambassador Shares Passion for Persian Language

In his recent meeting in Tehran with director of Iran’s Sadi Foundation Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Srivastava said that due to the fact that the Persian language was spoken before British colonial rule in India, the language is very important for his country, the Sadi Foundation announced in a press release on Saturday.
Srivastava, whose mission in Iran will end soon, spoke of his great interest in Persian classical poets including Sadi, Rumi, Hafez and Khayyam, and added that some Indian people still know Persian and speak in that language.
He asked the Sadi Foundation, which is an organization that promotes the Persian language abroad, to support Indian educational centers offering Persian language courses by sending teachers and providing necessary resources.
Haddad-Adel said that Iran attaches particular importance to the status of the Persian language in India and added, "Due to your interest in Iran and the Persian language, I was eager to meet you before you left Iran.”
"We will provide the necessary books for learning Persian language for the Indian educational centers through the India branch of the Sadi Foundation and the Iranian Cultural attaché’s Office in the country,” he stated.
"We want the light of the Persian language to remain glowing and we need your help in this,” said Haddad-Adel, who is also an MP and the director the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature.
