A number of literati, Iranian and foreign researchers on Molana, ambassadors including Bulgarian Ambassador to Iran Christo Stefanov Polendakov and Kyrgyzstan Ambassador Avazbek Abdurazakov were also present in the inaugural ceremony.
Some 100 articles have been submitted to the secretariat of the event, of which 11 have been selected for presentation during the two-day conference.
The international conference ‘Shams and Molana’ will end on Thursday.
ShamsTabrizi was a Persian mystic who is credited as the spiritual instructor of Molana Jalal ed-Din Muhammad Rumi and is referred to with great reverence in Rumi’s poetic collection, in particular Diwan- Shams (Anthology of Shams).
Tradition holds that Shams taught Rumi in seclusion in Konya for a period of forty days, before fleeing to Damascus. The tomb of Shams in Khoy was recently nominated to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
