Int’l Quran Contest for School Students Slated for February

Mohammad Reza Poormoin, who is in charge of the contest, told IQNA that representatives of 40 countries will take part at the Quranic event.

He said it will be held in the two categories of memorization and recitation of the Quran in two separate sections for girls and boys.

The Iranian capital of Tehran has been selected to host the event, he noted.

According to Poormoin, the competition is aimed at encouraging schools students to get more involved in Quranic activities and create a venue for healthy competition among school students with Quranic talents.

Enhancing Islamic unity and solidarity is also among the objectives of the contest, he states.

The previous four editions of the competition were held in the 1990s and there has been a two-decade hiatus in holding the event for different reasons.

The 5th edition of the international Quranic event will be organized by Iran’s Education Ministry.
