Iran’s Motamedi Comes 1st in Moscow Int’l Quran Contest

Representatives of Yemen and Tanzania came second and third, respectively.
 
Born in 1988 in the holy city of Qom, 150 km south of Tehran, Motamedi had come second in the memorization of the entire Quran category of the national Quran competition in 2013.

More than 6000 individuals, including Muftis and scholars from different parts of Russia and envoys of Muslim countries attended the awarding ceremony on Sunday night.
The three top winners respectively received $10,000, $7000, and $3000 in cash prize.

Crocus City Hall in Moscow hosted this year’s competition, which was its 16th edition.
Quran memorizers from 44 countries competed for the top prize from October 9 to 11.
The panel of judges comprised Quran experts from Jordan, Russia, Brunei, Egypt and Yemen.
