Head of Iran’s Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar boasted that his country is taking wide strides in developing nano-technology and nano-tech economy, adding that currently there are 610 nano-tech products available in the domestic market.
Secretary of Nanotechnology Headquarters of Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology Saeed Sarkar put the current products and equipment developed in the field of nanotechnology in the country at 610.
Totally, 610 types of goods and equipment based on nanotechnology are available at domestic market, Sarkar said in an interview on Tuesday, adding that “of the total of 610 items, 406 and 204 of which are related to the nano-products and equipment respectively”.
In the world of today, nanotechnology is regarded as an enabling technology, he said, adding, “these technologies can be applied in all industrial fields and promote quality and efficiency of products significantly.”
He went on to say that nanotechnology plays an effective role in industrial sector as well.
He called on all domestic industrialists to use nanotechnology in their field of activity and take advantage of these technologies in line with increasing quality of their products, otherwise, they will lose power of competition at the target markets in near future.
Familiarizing industrialists and owners of industries with emerging nanotechnologies in the field of management of development of nanotechnology is the main duty of the Iranian Nanotechnology Headquarters, he said, adding, “not only high-quality products are offered to people using nanotechnology but also power of penetration will be increased both in domestic and foreign markets coupled with competitiveness of domestic producers with foreign products will be enhanced in the international arena.”
Nanotechnology has been penetrated into more than 15 industrial sectors including pharmaceutical, construction, textile, automotive, oil, gas, petrochemical and home appliances industries, etc., he stated.
On Saturday, a knowledge-based Iranian company announced that it has used the air jet mill provided by another Iranian firm to increase production of nano silica which can be applied in manufacturing nanostructured tires.
The research team of a knowledge-based Iranian company mass-produced nano silica after years of research and development (R&D) work.
The size of particles used in the produced nano silica is between 15 to 35 nanometers.
The nano silica produced by the Iranian company can be used in tire and plastic industries as a strengthener due to its large surface area.
Iran has made huge progress in different sciences and technologies in recent years.
Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari announced early in December that Iran stood atop the nations of the region in the production of science and technology.
"Now, Iran ranks first in the region in science and technology," Sattari said, addressing a forum on stem cells in Tehran.
In relevant remarks earlier this month, Head of Iran’s Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar underlined the country's huge progress in manufacturing and exporting nanotechnology products.
"Fortunately, we are witnessing that nanotechnology products are being exported to over 45 countries of the world and we are witnessing the growing flourishing of this arena," Sarkar told FNA on the sidelines of the 12th International Nanotechnology Festival and Exhibition in Tehran.
He added that last year, Iran had planned to lead the nanotechnology exhibition towards industrialization, and said this goal has been attained by the 50% increase in the number of companies participating in the exhibit.
