Quran reciter Masoud Sayyah Gorji recited verses from the Holy Quran during the visit and Culture Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Reza Heshmati expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the incident.
In a speech, he underlined that no one can fully appreciate the efforts of those who make sacrifices to save people.
Also, veteran Quranic activist Habib Mahkam read out a statement of the Quranic community on sympathy with the firefighters.
The 17-story structure in downtown Tehran crumbled after the fire engulfed the top storeys of the building as scores of firefighters battled the blaze.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said between 20 to 25 people are believed to have been trapped under the rubble.
Firefighters are now searching to take out their comrades remaining under the rubble.
The high-rise was inaugurated in 1962 and named after a plastics manufacturing company. It was the tallest building in the city at the time of its construction. It included shopping centers and clothing workshops.
