Iran Banks to Join SWIFT

Nov 10, MOJNEWS - Ali Tayebnia at a meeting with Belgian Foreign Minister discussed Iran’s rejoining SWIFT network.

Ali Tayebnia, Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, at the meeting with Didier Reynders, Belgian Foreign Minister, and industrial representatives of Belgium, discussed different economic and banking relations between the two countries.

On the history of relations between the two nations, Tayebnia noted that from the signing of the first trade contract between the two countries it has been around 170 years that Iran and Belgium have had ties.

On the other side, Reyners referred to the log-term economic and political relations between the two countries, adding that there are good cooperation opportunities for the two countries.

Expressing hope for the lifting of the sanctions, he said: “The good relations between the two countries have never ended, this is why Belgian Minister of Foreign Trade together with 20 representatives from industrial and trade companies have joined the trip.”

Highlighting the renewal of trade ties with Iran, Belgian Foreign Minister said: “I hope that the relations of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and the Central Bank with SWIFT network is to be renewed.”

Moreover, relations in the fields of agricultural products, energy industry and modern technologies were among the negotiated topics.
