Iran for continued academic ties with Finland

He made the remarks in a meeting with Finland Foreign Trade Minister Lenita Toivakka here on Tuesday.

Referring to relations between Iran and Finland in different fields, especially in scientific and research cooperation, Farhadi said that there are 400 Iranian students studying in Finland universities.

Also referring to development of industry sector in Finland, he said that Finland is a developed country in the field of wood industry, agriculture, IT and aerospace. 'Therefore, joint scientific and research cooperation could be established by Finnish universities.'

The minister introduced the activities of 36 science and technology parks in Iran and said, 'In these parks there are centers and knowledge-based companies, which may establish connection with such centers in Finland and hold joint vocational courses.'

Toivakka said a 100-member delegation is accompanying her in the visit and added, 'I am representing 70 companies in the sector of industry, which are advanced and all interested in environment, health, forestry and education.'

She said that there exist suitable coordination between universities and industrial and trade companies in Finland, adding, 'We are interested to expand our scientific and technology ties with Iran.'

Finland has always tried to have investment in the field of education, because it believes such investment is the main basis for the country's economy.
