Participants in the gathering aim to study the “challenges and prospects” in the young Western generation’s perception of Islam by studying and reviewing the two letters that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has written to the youth in Western countries.
Papers are presented at the event on a range of subjects, including extremism, violence, terrorism, Islamophobia, Islamic awakening, democracy, Western cultural onslaught, cultural bonds with the West, Western countries’ policies, as well as interaction between the West and the Islamic world.
A host of university and seminary professors have taken part in the gathering, also attended by Chief of the Iranian Judiciary’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani.
Ayatollah Khamenei has written two letters to the young people living in the West over the past months.
In the first one in January 2015, Imam Khamenei introduced the true image of Islam to youths in Europe and North America, and elaborated on the reasons behind the West’s attempts to spread Islamophobia.
The second letter was released on November 29, 2015, following a series of terrorist attacks in Paris.
In the latter, the Leader underlined that it is only the “youth , who by learning lessons from today’s hardships, will be able to find new solutions for building the future, and block off-roads which have led the West to this current position.”
