The Italian academy and science delegation is scheduled to meet with the Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Mohammad Farhadi on Sunday, according to Hossein Salar-Amoli, Deputy Science Minister in International Affairs.

The Italian delegation is headed by Italian Minister of Education Stefania Giannini accompanied by presidents of Universities of Rome and Trieste.

Also officials from Italian Association of Science and Technology Parks (APSTI) which is the Italian national network of scientific and technological parks along with the head of Italian Department for Universities, higher education establishments in art, music and dance, are in the entourage.

The Italians are also scheduled to hold meetings with Iran’s Health Minister Dr. Hashemi, Minister of Education Ali Asghar Fani, and Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Satari.

Salar-Amoli highlighted that the meetings would examine technologic capacity of both nations in order to find ways of cooperation in scientific and technological areas.

The official noted that foreign science delegations visit Tehran in accordance with the “science diplomacy” of the ministry.

Iranian Deputy Science Minister affirmed that last week the same kind of delegations from Japan, Germany and Chile visited Tehran.

The Iranian official boasted that the scientific progress in Iran has attracted countries from Asia, Europe and the Middle East to step forward for bolstering ties with the Islamic Republic.

Earlier in August, the Iranian minister of science, research and technology had voiced willingness to boost scientific collaboration with other countries through professor and student exchange programs, holding joint scientific courses, and if necessary, establishing foreign university branches in Iran, including in free zones.
