Iran, Italy take long strides in expansion of cultural, artistic ties

Ali Jannati said in the meeting with Dario Franceschini who is in Tehran for a few days' visit that issuance of visas for artists, professors, cultural activists from Iran who intend to participate in cultural, artistic, and literary events in Italy should be made easier.

The Iranian culture minister referred to his recent visit of Italy and meetings with various Italian officials there, evaluating the visit as very fruitful.

** Bilateral dialogue atmosphere, mutual understanding greatly strengthen ties

Italy's minister of heritage, cultural activities, too, expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of Mina disaster, arguing that the Italian nation and government feel deep sympathy with the Iranian nation on this sad occasion.

'This was a very catastrophic event because a group of believers lost their lives during performing their religious rituals,' he added.

On cultural relations, Minister Franceschini said: in accordance with the cultural-artistic memorandum of understanding (MOU) that we have signed we can have much broader relations in these fields, since based on their historical backgrounds, our two nations have lots of shared points and commonalties.

He highlighted the Italian nation's enthusiasm in getting better acquainted with the Persian language and literature, arguing that expansion of cultural ties will serve both nations interests.
